Questions on the child blanket project

Hi everyonte! I wasn't at the meeting on the 16th but I like the idea of the strip blankets for children. I work at the King County Bar Association and we have a small knitting group there. When I mentioned about the strip blanket project, some people were interested because it seems like a manageable project even for newer knitters. However, people asked: In terms of color, are we talking baby blanket or child blanket? Also, is this project really happening? If so, should I go ahead and ask the people at my workplace to contribute strips? It might only be 2-3 people but I don't want to ask them unless the project is really a go. Is there a deadline? And what are is the group of children, or organization that is receiving the blankets?
Thanks for the info! It sounds like a great project.

I don't know if the project is a definite yet, but I just wanted to say I'd be happy to knit a strip.

Hey I'm really excited to hear there is an interest outside of our immediate community! Fantastic!

Yes, the project is definite. I got the impression that Claire, whose idea this was, had an organization in mind to give the blankets to, but I will confirm with her. We were talking about how the average age for homeless people is very young (I forget the statistic at the moment) so I believe the blankets will go to those children - so child colors, not baby.

We'll discuss this more at our next meeting in October. In the meantime, let's plan to have the strips finished by our November meeting and that will give us a month to put them together in order to donate them to shelters this winter.

The thought on the blankets was to make them 'child sized' on the idea that babies could use child sized blankets but children couldn't really use baby-sized blankets.

I think Claire said the average age was under 10? Something awful like that. I think this really is a great project

Thanks, guys! I'll tell my workplace people to get busy. Of course, who knows if they will actually do anything! I will definitely start a strip, however!
